LA INC. Unveils ‘That’s So LA’ Online Contest
Everyone knows that Angelenos know their city best.  Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and LA INC., The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau, invite residents to share their ideas about what makes Los Angeles – so LA. Through the end of February, residents will have an opportunity to tell the world about their unique LA experiences by entering an online contest at www.discoverLosAngeles.com.

“We are asking LA residents to help tell the great story of our city. Tourism is the No. 2 industry in LA and during these challenging economic times we think Angelenos can help sell the city as a tourist destination,’’ said Mark Liberman, president and CEO of LA INC. The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau.  “Tourism contributes more than $14.2 billion to the local economy and employs more than 250,000 people.  We need Angelenos, true lovers of the city, to help keep an important economic engine – tourism – going strong.”

Advertisements will showcase ‘That’s So LA’, the new campaign that was introduced today by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.  Residents of Los Angeles all have different ways of describing their city for visitors who want to spend time in LA seeing the sights, shopping, dining and enjoying the weather. These insider tips will help reveal the variety and richness that Los Angeles has to offer, the experiences visitors can take home with them and always think, “That’s So LA!”

Creative Angelenos, it’s your time to share your ideas, in print or video, to tell the world about Los Angeles: the vacation destination.  Submissions will be featured on the Bureau’s newly redesigned website. The public will vote online to choose  the winning submissions and the five winning Los Angeles residents will get an opportunity to enjoy one of five “That’s So LA’’ weekend getaways featuring Downtown LA, the San Fernando Valley, the Westside, Beach Cities or Hollywood. Escape Getaways include deluxe hotel accommodations, tickets to attractions and museums and $500 spending money.

To enter, simply visit www.discoverLosAngeles.com and click on the ‘That’s So LA” contest. Directions will tell you how to submit your ‘That’s So LA’ advertisement or video in the competition.  Contest rules are also explained on the site.
