New Hotels Emerge on LA’s Horizon

LOS ANGELES - Several hotels in Los Angeles County are currently under construction or have been recently developed.  The following is a summary of some of these new hotel developments. (Editor’s note: Media contacts are for media use only)

DOWNTOWN

JW Marriott Hotel Los Angeles at L.A. LIVE - The JW Marriott Hotel Los Angeles at L.A. LIVE is scheduled to open February 15, 2010 as part of the $2.5 billion L.A. LIVE sports and entertainment complex developed by AEG. Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles - The first Ritz-Carlton “all club” property in the United States is scheduled to open in March 2010.  The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles, a 123-room “all club” hotel, will be situated on the upper floors of a 54-story tower located at L.A. LIVE.  Also included within the tower will be the JW Marriott Hotel Los Angeles and 224 Ritz-Carlton Residences. The tower will feature a metal and glass curtain wall exterior, and will consist of both vision and non-vision glass units in colors of blue and green and patterns to create a distinctive profile in the Downtown skyline. The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles, will feature a 3,400 square foot Club Lounge, which will also serve as the 23rd floor check-in area for guests. A small boardroom will be available adjacent to the lounge area, providing meeting space suitable for business meetings. Another unique feature of The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles, will be a combined Lobby Lounge and restaurant on the 24th floor with windows offering panoramic views of Downtown and surrounding Southern California. Kyoto Grand Hotel & Gardens (formerly the New Otani Hotel &Gardens) - The Kyoto Grand Hotel & Gardens is a 21-story, full-service hotel, immersing its guests in a serene atmosphere with accents derived from Japanese culture.  The hotel features 434 guest rooms and 20 suites, including three Japanese suites.  Flexible meeting spaces can be configured to meet specific needs, accommodating any event from boardroom meetings for 20 attendees to large-scale receptions for 850 guests.  Restaurants at the hotel include the Garden Grill, Thousand Cranes restaurant and the Azalea restaurant.  Kyoto Grand Hotel & Gardens is located in the heart of Little Tokyo. 120 S. O Hotel Los Angeles - This historic 1920s hotel re-opened its glass doors in late 2007. A serene haven for the business traveler, urbanite and out-of-towner, O Hotel offers 68 deluxe rooms with upgraded comforts, modern amenities and the efficient service expected of well-tended boutique establishments.  Located in the heart of the City’s Financial District and part of the ongoing revitalization of Downtown, O Hotel is across the street from shops and dining at Macy’s Plaza, only a few blocks from STAPLES Center and the Los Angeles Convention Center. W Hotel - A new W Hotel will open in December 2009 as part of the mixed-use Hollywood & Vine Project, located across from the historic Pantages Theatre and above the Hollywood/Vine Metro Red Line subway station.  The hotel will have 305 rooms, and the property will include a private rooftop pool and gym, a signature restaurant, a 9,200-square-foot spa and a rooftop bar. Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills - On Nov. 4, 2008, residents of Beverly Hills approved Measure H, which allows the owners of the Beverly Hilton Hotel to build a 12-story, 170-room Waldorf-Astoria hotel and two luxury condominium towers at the corner of Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards in Beverly Hills.  The new hotel rooms will replace 217 rooms of the Beverly Hilton, which will be demolished, for a net reduction of 47 rooms.  Rooms at the new Waldorf-Astoria could be $480 to $550 per night.  The new property is scheduled to open in 2011.  www.waldorfastoria1.hilton.com.  Media Contact:  David Trumble, 602.870.2721, david.trumble@hilton.com
Hotel Palomar Los Angeles – Westwood (formerly Doubletree Hotel) - The Hotel Palomar Los Angeles-Westwood, under management of San Francisco-based Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, opened its doors in May 2008. The hotel features many eco-friendly practices as part of its daily operations. Hotel Erwin - Joie de Vivre, California’s largest boutique hotel collection, has added a fourth southern California property to its collection, with the re-launch of the Marina Pacific Hotel as the Hotel Erwin Venice Beach.  The 119-room property is currently undergoing a two-phase renovation that will be completed in mid August.  Hotel Erwin is at the epicenter of Venice, overlooking Muscle beach, the 20-foot tall Jim Morrison mural and the recently renovated boardwalk.
