New Hotels Emerge on LA’s Horizon

LOS ANGELES — Several hotels in Los Angeles County are currently under construction or have been recently developed.  The following is a summary of some of these new hotel developments. (Editor’s note: Media contacts are for media use only)

DOWNTOWN

JW Marriott Hotel Los Angeles at L.A. LIVE -- The JW Marriott Hotel Los Angeles at L.A. LIVE is scheduled to open in March 2010 as part of the $2.5 billion L.A. Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles – The first Ritz-Carlton “all club” property in the United States is scheduled to open in 2010.  The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles, a 123-room “all club” hotel will be situated on the upper floors of a 54-story tower located at the L.A. LIVE sports and entertainment complex developed by AEG.  Also included on the property will be 224 private condominiums, The Ritz-Carlton Residences at L.A. LIVE. The tower housing The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles will feature a metal and glass curtain wall exterior, and will consist of both vision and non-vision glass units in colors of blue and green and patterns to create a distinctive profile in the Downtown skyline. This hotel will feature a 3,400 square foot Club Lounge, which will also serve as the 23rd floor check-in area for guests. A small boardroom will be available adjacent to the lounge area, providing meeting space suitable for business meetings. Another unique feature of The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles will be a combined Lobby Lounge and restaurant on the 24th floor with windows offering panoramic views of Downtown and the surrounding Southern California region. Kyoto Grand Hotel & Gardens (formerly the New Otani Hotel &Gardens) - The Kyoto Grand Hotel & Gardens is a 21-story, full-service hotel, with intriguing accents derived from Japanese culture.  The hotel features 434 guest rooms and 20 suites, including three Japanese suites.  Flexible meeting spaces can be configured to meet specific needs, accommodating any event from boardroom meetings for 20 attendees to large-scale receptions for 850 guests.  Restaurants at the Kyoto Grand Hotel & Gardens include the Garden Grill, Thousand Cranes restaurant and the Azalea restaurant. Park Fifth -- A $1 billion high-rise condominium complex featuring a 14-story, five-star hotel and spa, Park Fifth, is poised to become the tallest residential building in the west. It will be among the 10 tallest in the world, changing the Downtown LA skyline. O Hotel Los Angeles - This historic 1920s hotel re-opened its glass doors in late 2007. A serene haven for the business traveler, urbanite and out-of-towner, O Hotel offers 68 deluxe rooms with upgraded comforts, modern amenities and efficient service expected of well-tended boutique establishments.  Located in the heart of the City’s Financial District and part of the ongoing revitalization of Downtown Los Angeles, O Hotel is across the street from shops and dining at Macy’s Plaza, only a few blocks from STAPLES Center and the Los Angeles Convention Center. HOLLYWOOD AREA

The London West Hollywood (formerly the Bel Age Hotel) - The London West Hollywood  opened in April 2008, following a complete evolution in design, amenities and service.  The opening comes a little over a year after the successful launch of its sister property, The London NYC in Manhattan, and brings together many of the same award-winning partners and collaborators from that project – including acclaimed designer David Collins Studio and award-winning chef Gordon Ramsay.  The 223 guest suites will feature an open floor-plan, which presents unobstructed views through a private terrace.  The hotel will introduce a one-of-a-kind rooftop spa experience, anticipated to open in late 2008.  1020 N. Palihouse West Hollywood - Palihouse West Hollywood offers 21 hotel guest suites and 16 condominium homes designed with long-stay guests in mind. This is the first of three new Palihouse-branded Urban Lodges, with the other two to be located in Hollywood and Venice. Each Palihouse proposes a unique California experience and is defined by service, contemporary style, convenience, fraternity and a Bohemian flair for the unexpected. W Hotel - A new W Hotel is under development as part of the mixed-use Hollywood & Vine Project, located across from the historic Pantages Theatre and above the Hollywood/Vine Metro Red Line subway station.  The hotel will have 305 rooms and the property will include a private rooftop pool and gym, a signature restaurant, a 9,200-square-foot spa and a rooftop bar.  The $600-million area project will not only include the W Hotel, but also W Residences, approximately 50,000 square feet of retail space and a civic plaza.  W Hotel is scheduled to open in 2009. www.legacypartners.com,  Media contact: Sandra Yamane, Marathon Communications, 323.655.4660, syamane@marathon.com.

WESTSIDE

Hotel Palomar Los Angeles – Westwood (formerly Doubletree Hotel) - The Hotel Palomar Los Angeles–Westwood, under management of San Francisco-based Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, is scheduled to open in June 2008. Improvements will include extensive guest room upgrades, a decrease in the number of guest rooms to create more suites, a destination spa and fitness center. The hotel will also feature many eco-friendly practices as part of its daily operations. Montage Beverly Hills – Opening in Fall 2008, the Spanish Revival-style Montage Beverly Hills, located in the heart of the Beverly Hills triangle just steps from Rodeo Drive, will offer 201 guestrooms, a full-service spa, signature restaurant, rooftop pool, street-level retail boutiques, 20 residences, as well as adjacent public gardens connecting Beverly and Canon Drives, and a city-owned underground public parking facility with 1,172 spaces. 225 N.
