“Where old Hollywood and young Hollywood entwine”
LOS ANGELES, CA - Since 1927 the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel has been the playground of luminaries including Clark Gable, Carole Lombard and Marilyn Monroe and was the birthplace of the Academy Awards. The Hollywood Roosevelt has represented the epitome of the excitement, glamour and elegance of Tinseltown from its inception. Named in honor of President Theodore Roosevelt, the hotel celebrated its grand opening on May 15, 1927 and quickly became the gathering place for Hollywood stars. From its prime location on Hollywood Boulevard, the Hollywood Roosevelt is at the epicenter of the entertainment capital of the world.
The property is the oldest continuously running hotel in the city and is listed on the National Register of Historic Properties. Over the years the property lost some of its luster, and insightful investors recognized the opportunity to revive the landmark as a favorite place for Hollywood stars. In 2005 hotel owners Goodwin Gaw of Downtown Properties and David Chang of CCL Holdings formed a conglomerate with the Thompson Hotel Group and co-owner Jason Pomeranc to manage the property. Since then The Thompson Hotel Group has catapulted the property to a level of exclusivity reminiscent of Hollywood’s Golden Age.
Thompson Hotel Group properties are known for quiet luxury with meticulous attention to style, detail and service. The process of morphing the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel into a bastion of the group’s trademark bohemian chic began with a physical makeover. Sweeping renovations by acclaimed designer Dodd Mitchell in conjunction with historians from the Hollywood Historical Society heralded the hotel’s rebirth. Over 60 cabana rooms with private terraces and pool views were overhauled in Dodd Mitchell’s signature style, focusing on spatial depth and sensual lighting along with an innate sensibility towards natural materials and unconventional detailing. The result is a stunning blend of comfort and quality design with no two rooms exactly alike. Alternative décor options abound in the tower rooms, where 240 rooms are designed in the understated decadence for which the Thompson Hotel Group is known.
From the celeb-studded Tropicana to the ultra-exclusive Teddy’s lounge, the nightlife scene has helped propel the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel to one of the world’s most exclusive destinations. In addition to the clubs, The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel features a range of other dining and entertainment options. Dakota provides a modern interpretation of the classic steakhouse in a private and seductive restaurant atmosphere. The Lobby Lounge offers an easy spot to enjoy cocktails and an appetizer, while 25 Degrees restaurant offers a stylish take on a 1950’s Burger Bar.
Anticipate the ultimate stay in sophistication at the hotel’s Gable/Lombard penthouse. The space is renovated by Dodd Mitchell and evokes the epitome of old Hollywood glamour enmeshed with the new. A palette of platinum and black with touches of white highlights the penthouse’s extraordinary architecture including dual master suites and a rooftop deck. In the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel penthouse privileged guests will have the opportunity to visit a setting fit for icons of the past.
