Meeting professionals familiar with Los Angeles have probably come across the question at least once: “Where are all the cabs?” Before the city council approved a six-month test program to allow taxis to pick up passengers from the curb, it wasn’t actually legal for cabbies to pick up casual passengers. The result: you’d have to get a taxi from designated areas.
Now, LA is as cab-friendly as New York, whose traffic landscape consists of lanes upon lanes of yellow. The new rules let cabbies pick up and drop off fares in Downtown LA and Hollywood, specifically in red zones and curb lanes, as well as double-parking to pick up or drop off passengers.
For visitors on business, it makes getting picked up a whole lot easier.
