Nothing can compare to a great meal, unless it’s one enjoyed at an environmentally-friendly restaurant. Many of LA’s restaurateurs and caterers are saying so-long to products that have no sustainable qualities. They’re also bidding farewell to fois gras, imported fruits and vegetables, and that nasty, non-biodegradable little invention known as Styrofoam.
To minimize the carbon footprint of special events and individual dining, consider some of LA’s cutting-edge, eco-friendly restaurants and cafes that have been recognized as Certified Green Restaurants. In order to be considered for certification, a restaurateur must use a comprehensive recycling system for all products that are accepted by local recycling companies, meet at least four out of 11 environmental guidelines, such as the use of sustainable products and chlorine-free paper products, and be Styrofoam-free.
