Los Angeles has always been a city of the future: focused on what’s next, staying ahead of the curve, and creating the trends that everyone else follows. This is especially true with New Media, the online content that has become such an integral part of our daily lives. Meeting planners who want to stay up to date on everything happening in the City of Angels should follow @meetings_LA and @discover_LA on Twitter, and "Like" the Discover Los Angeles Facebook page. Stay in the loop with these social media channels, and you'll see why LA is the best city to host forward-thinking New Media conferences and events like BlogWorld and Social Media Week.

Anyone who is serious about Blogging, Podcasting, Vlogging, Web TV or Internet Radio, Social Media, and New Media Content of any kind, is attending the BlogWorld & New Media Expo, taking place from November 3-5, 2011 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Downtown LA. With its combination of meeting spaces, technology and offsite activities, Los Angeles is the perfect place to host the first and only industry-wide conference for all New Media. At BlogWorld, attendees will find the most comprehensive and critical knowledge for growing a business, brand and audience with the latest new media technology, methods and tools. BlogWorld features over 200 speakers, three days of education, a trade show and networking events.

Savvy businesses are also aware of Los Angeles and its importance in the social media world. During BlogWorld, business owners can attend an exclusive 3-day track, the Social Media Business Summit. Whether it's a small business looking to develop a social media marketing plan, or a corporate marketer needing tips for elevating online marketing strategies, Los Angeles is the place to be.

Los Angeles was one of only two U.S. cities chosen to participate in the most recent Social Media Week, a unique global platform that offers a series of interconnected activities and conversations around the world on emerging trends in social and mobile media across all major industries. The main host venue for SMW was the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, where ten media and entertainment events took place throughout the week. At the Paley Center, the professional community and media-interested public can participate in discussions of the cultural, creative and social significance of television, radio and emerging platforms, as well as attend a range of events that examine the creative process behind great entertainment.

Other SMW events included Movies and Music Go Social at the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica, Social Media in Sports at Dodger Stadium, and a panel on Social Media and the Restaurant Industry at The Palm Restaurant in Downtown LA. A unique Photo Walk took dozens of participants on a photographic tour of Downtown LA, utilizing check-ins on Foursquare and Twitter feeds (hashtag #WeWalkLA) so others could follow the walk’s progress. The tour began at Union Station and included landmarks such as Olvera Street and the Music Center. Photos from the walk are viewable on the Discover Los Angeles group on Flickr, as well as on Instagram.
