Los Angeles Student Itinerary: Hollywood or Bust!

Breakfast at the Hotel

Most of LA’s hotels provide good dining options, so grab a quick breakfast at your group’s hotel before heading out for the day. The California's at the Sheraton Universal offers contemporary California cuisine starting at 6 a.m., while Café Sierra at Universal City Hilton features a hearty all-American breakfast. Both hotels are conveniently located for your next stop on this itinerary.

Universal Studios Hollywood/Stella Adler Studio
One of LA’s top attractions is an action-packed heaven for youth groups. Universal Studios Hollywood sets up educational programs that feature technical tours, youth outings and lesson plans. Or just take your group to enjoy the popular rides that the theme park offers: the new Simpsons Ride, Revenge of the Mummy, Jurassic Park – The Ride and Shred 4-D, just to name a few.

For performing arts groups, Stella Adler’s acting workshops include a new series, the “Universal Studios Workshops.” Students can learn from the pros about acting techniques, improv, and even stage combat — right inside the theme park.

Lunch at The Saddle Ranch Chop House, Universal CityWalk

Treat your group to lunch at Saddle Ranch Chop House, the premier western ranch-style restaurant at Universal CityWalk. Its buffalo chicken wrap, steak sandwich and other signature specialties deliver a mouthwatering punch, and it’ll get your group charged up for the rest of the day.

Red Line Tours and Starline Tours
Provide your group with one of the popular tours from Red Line Tours or Starline Tours, both of which offer student tours and are included in the Hollywood CityPass. In addition to the Kodak Theatre tour, the Hollywood CityPass features a behind-the-scenes Hollywood tour and a glamorous movie star homes tour. For die-hard movie buffs, Red Line Tours offers a walking tour specifically about LA’s most famous movie locations. Participants can see where blockbusters such as Dreamgirls, Fast & the Furious, Transformers and Mission Impossible were filmed.

If there’s still time, give your group a couple of hours to shop around at the famous Hollywood & Highland Center. Its variety of hip teen stores like Hot Topic, Planet Funk, Sanrio and the Virgin Megastore will give students a chance to develop their own LA fashion style.

Dinner at Musso & Frank Grill

Dine at the Hollywood classic Musso & Frank Grill, where students will feel like they’re sitting in a scene from The Great Gatsby. In fact, F. Scott Fitzgerald, William Faulkner and Ernest Hemingway all used to hang out here, some sitting at the bar and others enjoying its famous veal scaloppini.

Enjoy a Show at Pantages Theatre
Get your group set up with theatre tickets from the Nederlander Company, which offers discounted group tickets at a variety of LA theatre venues. Advance ordering will save time and hassle, and your group will especially appreciate the experience of being in the ornate and historic Pantages Theatre, one of LA’s best examples of art deco architecture.
