LOS ANGELES (December 19, 2016) – For those anxiously awaiting the highly anticipated film “La La Land,” from Lionsgate’s Summit Entertainment label, now playing in select cities and available everywhere on Christmas Day, Discover Los Angeles presents an inspirational guide to exploring one of the film’s primary characters: The city of Los Angeles.

Written and directed by Academy Award® nominee Damien Chazelle, the original musical LA LA LAND tells the story of Mia [Emma Stone], an aspiring actress, and Sebastian [Ryan Gosling], a dedicated jazz musician, who are pursuing their dreams in modern day Los Angeles. Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing dreams. Featuring more than 40 locations in the City of Angels, “La La Land” has inspired Discover Los Angeles to feature the film’s must-sees for visitors in a new guide available at DiscoverLosAngeles.com/LaLaLand and through the imagery of social influencer @paperboyo, with whom Discover Los Angeles has partnered. His signature paper cutouts – this time of a dancing Sebastian and Mia – adorn five distinct film locations throughout the city, with a new image available on Discover Los Angeles’ Instagram every day this week.

“The city may be the film’s biggest star. ‘La La Land’ is visually arresting and depicts the endless skies and magic of modern-day L.A.,” said Don Skeoch, chief marketing officer for Discover Los Angeles. “We believe fans will become inspired by what they see and want to visit and learn about the iconic locations.”

“LA LA LAND is absolutely a love letter to the city,” says Marc Platt, producer for “La La Land.” “The way the film mixes two people leading very hip, modern lives with all these iconic Hollywood locales is unique. You get a feeling both of the romantic fantasy of the city and its grounding in real lives.”

A rundown of the most iconic sites from the film:

-    Griffith Park: A sparkling, painterly backdrop to Mia and Sebastian’s budding romance. Take a few hours to explore the 4,310 acre urban park by hiking, horseback riding or biking.

-    Lighthouse Café: The Hermosa Beach landmark has been a legendary jazz showcase since 1949. In “La La Land,” the iconic music club, once host to Miles Davis and Chet Baker, is a hot date spot for the main characters and plays a pivotal role in Sebastian’s career path.

-    Colorado Street Bridge: Proclaimed the highest concrete bridge in the world upon completion in 1913. With its majestic arches rising 150 feet into the sky, this now historic bridge has impressed travelers and locals from the day it opened, and is a romantic landmark in the modern Los Angeles area.
