My fellow engineers have incorporated some pretty nifty technology to bring The Simpsons to life. The ride uses 80-foot dome screens and a magnificent scissor-lift, motion-based platform that coordinates its movements with the action on the screens. The video projection system completely surpasses the television my mother gave me and is capable of attaining more than four times the HD resolution seen in most home movie theaters. With the ride’s super-high-quality 6.1 surround sound system and 400 custom speakers, you get a crystal-clear audio experience that will knock your braces off.
In addition to cutting-edge technology that the guys from Star Trek couldn't have found in deep space, the ride also boasts ecologically friendly construction. The attraction’s green conversion includes a massive installation of LED lamps that conserve more than 55,233 watts of energy per hour — that's roughly the amount of energy needed for time travel. It also uses efficient electrical power controls that will ultimately reap power savings of 50 percent.
It's all part of Universal Studios Hollywood's plan to become as green as green can be. The theme park was also given the Environmental Media Association Green Seal Award, quite the honors and the first to be given to a theme park.
So after countless hours of careful calculations, algorithms and computer analysis, The Simpsons Ride is a lean, green awesome machine that you won't want to miss. (P.S. Please tell Milhouse he rules.)
