LA’s time to take its position as a serious food city has arrived. And dineLA wants to make sure the world knows.
With an Advisory Committee that includes some of LA’s culinary luminaries helping to lead the way (Neal Fraser of Grace and BLD, Ben Ford of Ford’s Filling Station, Evan Kleiman of Angeli Caffe, Joachim Splichal of the Patina Group, Suzanne Tracht of Jar, Tracht’s and Suzpree, Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken of Ciudad and Border Grill, Carl Schuster of Wolfgang Puck Catering, to name a few) dineLA is on track to be the resource for the Los Angeles dining community and visitors who want to sample the city’s culinary offerings.
The first annual dineLA Restaurant Week, held in 2008 featured 143 restaurants from all over LA County. Each restaurant selected a price tier that best suited their menu and then they set about creating special dishes that guests are still raving about. Participating restaurateurs reported meeting first-time locals who drove from all corners of the city as well as dining-savvy out-of-towners, all keen to try new places.
The event was a huge success with restaurateurs who saw an estimated 25% increase in sales, as well as with diners—an estimated 100,000 of them—who were able to really explore the LA dining scene. Many of those 143 restaurants continue to offer their dineLA menus even after the program was over.
The goal at dineLA.com is for visitors and Angelenos alike to see that LA is a food-lover’s paradise—one of the best in the world—a place where inspired chefs create some of the best food in the nation, ranging from uber-fresh fish tacos at a local stand to Wagyu beef from Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, at a celeb hotspot. The easy-to-use dineLA.com Web site offers timely features, insider chef profiles, detailed info on more than 2,000 LA-area restaurants, plus must-do food and wine events around town.
