Orcutt Ranch is open daily from sunrise to sunset (23600 Roscoe Blvd., Canoga Park). W.W. Orcutt was a pioneer of the oil production industry in California and discoverer of the prehistoric fossils at the La Brea Tar Pits. In commemoration of Orcutt’s discovery, paleontologists named the La Brea Coyote in W.W. Orcutt’s honor, Canis Orcutti.

Dedicated on Oct. 3, 1976, the Korean Bell of Friendship at Angel's Gate Park in San Pedro was presented by the Republic of Korea to the American people to celebrate the bicentennial of the U.S. to honor American veterans of the Korean War, and to symbolize friendship between the two nations. The bell was also featured in the Usual Suspects (scene: meeting with Redfoot).

The JW Marriott Hotel Los Angeles at L.A. LIVE and the The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles are scheduled to open Feb. 15, 2010, as the cornerstone and final phase of the $2.5 billion L.A. LIVE sports and entertainment complex in Downtown across from STAPLES Center. The JW Marriott will have 878 guest rooms, including 52 suites, along with a 4,000-square-foot fitness center, and an outdoor pool and bar. From the 23rd floor and above, The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles will feature 123 guest rooms, including 14 suites, and a 8,000-square-foot spa. The LEED-certified property comprising the two hotels is a 54-story tower and one of the tallest mix-use buildings in Downtown Los Angeles.
