January 3USC imposes sanctions on its basketball program for violating NCAA rules involving former player O.J. Mayo, resulting in a one-year ban on postseason play following the current regular season, including the Pac-10 Conference tournament.

As a result of the Reggie Bush scandal, the USC football team is stripped of its 2004 national championship victory and vacates its entire 2005 season. Furthermore, the team is banned from postseason play for two years and will lose more than 20 scholarships.
