The rumors are true: Los Angeles millennials aren’t having kids, they’re adopting dogs. That makes this city pretty dog-friendly, as people are going to bring their “furbabies” with them most places. Plus, this is just a laid-back town. Here are some restaurants participating in Summer dineL.A. this year that will be happy to let you sit on a nice patio with your little love.

Chang'an Restaurant

A lovely plant-filled, pergola-covered patio is attached to Chang’an Restaurant, a very hip restaurant on the third floor of a San Gabriel Valley mall. This is a very meat-heavy spot, specifically meats on sticks: you know all the dogs here are getting more than their fair share of tender victuals. But surely you’ll be keeping the seafood delights to yourself.

MESSHALL Kitchen

MESSHALL’s Los Feliz location means it’s always jam-packed. But the very friendly servers will make time to make your dog feel like royalty, with attention, praise and a water bowl. (Insider tip: order a turkey burger with no seasoning for your four-legged friend.) For yourself, if you’re there at lunch, be sure to order a Cobb salad. The L.A. invention was first created by the owners of the Brown Derby, a legendary Hollywood joint that had a location in this very spot.
