A Dialogue Through Performance: Alicia Hall Moran & Uri McMillan
Alicia Hall Moran, NAACP Theater Award–nominated artist and mezzo-soprano, is a multidimensional artist performing and composing between the fields of opera, art, theater, and jazz. Her performances weave together themes of history, culture, and identity, creating immersive experiences for audiences. In this special program, she will present a thought-provoking performance that reflects the themes and legacies of creativity, survival, and documentation by Black femmes throughout the world explored in Simone Leigh, on view through January 20. Hall Moran will be joined for a post-performance conversation with Uri McMillan, associate professor of English and gender studies at UCLA, where they will delve into the insights and inspirations behind Hall Moran’s work and the exhibition.
