First Fridays: AMPLIFIED – Experiencing Sound

Get ready for the all-new 2025 season of First Fridays: AMPLIFIED, exploring the transformative power of sound––how it moves us, shapes our minds, and deepens our connection to the natural world.
On May 2, immerse yourself in Experiencing Sound, an evening dedicated to the science and art of sound healing. Experience an enlightening conversation in NHM’s new Commons Theater with host Dr. Yewande Pearse and special guest DJ Kurs, artistic director of Deaf West theater. Together, they’ll explore the experience of living without sound, its implications, and how institutions are building more accessible and immersive sound experiences for all.
Enjoy live musical performances by Stones Throw Records’ Automatic and Doris Anahi, along with tunes from DJs Wyldeflower and January, and a Pride in Bloom sneak peek from Drag Arts Lab. Relax in the Sound Lounge with Doe Paoro, where soothing sound baths and meditative experiences create moments of calm and restoration. Plus, browse NHM collections displays, exhibitions, and pop-ups.
Don’t miss this unforgettable after-hours experience at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles featuring music, discussion, cocktails, food trucks, and more.
Advance reservations recommended. Free admission and discounted tickets for NHMLAC Members.
