Hollywood Dream Machines at the Petersen Automotive Museum
Explore the world's largest exhibition of Science Fiction and Fantasy vehicles
Now on view at the Petersen Automotive Museum through June 2020, Hollywood Dream Machines: Vehicles of Science Fiction and Fantasy is the largest exhibition of its kind in the world, featuring 50 iconic vehicles from more than 20 beloved films and TV series.
Step into the worlds of Star Wars, the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Blade Runner through props, design drawings and physical vehicle models that bring visions of dystopian, utopian, and science fiction worlds to life.
Visitors can also interact with select vehicles like the time-traveling DeLorean from Back to the Future and the Warthog troop transporter from the Halo video game franchise, via the Microsoft HoloLens virtual reality headset and programming.
Curated in collaboration with the Comic-Con Museum, Hollywood Dream Machines is described by the Petersen's Executive Director Terry Karges as “the biggest exhibit of our 25th anniversary.” In a press release, Karges said, "With more than 40 vehicles from the silver screen spread across the museum, the exhibit is an ode to the industry that Los Angeles was built upon. We can’t wait to explore the fantasy and fictional concepts behind these extraordinary vehicles with the world.”

With anticipation building for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, fans can relive the first time they saw Episode IV: A New Hope with Luke Skywalker’s X-34 Landspeeder - with wheels! - on loan from the forthcoming Lucas Museum of Narrative Art.

Released on June 23, 1989, Batman is one of the seminal movies in the modern superhero film genre. Hollywood Dream Machines features the Batmobile from Batman and its 1992 sequel, Batman Returns; and the Batpod from Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.
Bat-fans can imagine themselves wearing the Dark Knight's cowl when they book the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood, which includes a visit to the "Batcave" and its collection of Batmobiles and other famous vehicles used in the film franchise.

Iconic vehicles from numerous classic TV shows are also on view at Hollywood Dream Machines, including a replica of the 1966 Batmobile, KITT from Knight Rider, Black Beauty from The Green Hornet, and The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
