The World Series Champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers will begin defense of their title in Japan against the Chicago Cubs on March 18 and 19. The Tokyo Series marks the second consecutive year the Dodgers will open their season in Asia, following last year's Seoul Series versus the San Diego Padres.

Here in LA, the Dodgers have inspired local artists to create murals across the city, from current superstar Shohei Ohtani to fan favorites Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman, to the pioneering Latino legend, Fernando Valenzuela.

On the eve of the Dodgers 2024-25 home opener, artist Robert Vargas unveiled a 150-foot mural of Shohei Ohtani on the side of the Miyako Hotel in Little Tokyo. Titled LA Rising, the mural depicts Ohtani in his two-way role as designated hitter and pitcher - the Dodgers and their fans are hoping to see him take the mound in the 2025-26 season as the Boys in Blue make their run to repeat as world champions.

The mural has become a favorite for tourists and locals alike. Cross the street and scan the QR code embedded in the sidewalk to watch the Augmented Reality animation!

As artist Jonas Never told the LA Times about his massive Blue Heaven On Earth mural in Frogtown, “We didn’t know they were gonna be in the World Series. We definitely didn’t know Fernando was going to pass. So this one kind of took on a whole life of its own.” Self-described as his "love letter to the World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers," Never's mural links Kirk Gibson's legendary home run in the 1988 World Series with Freddie Freeman's walk-off grand slam in Game 1 of the 2024 World Series.

Joe Kelly by Jonas Never - Sugared + Bronzed (September 2020)

Pitcher Joe Kelly added his name to decades of Dodger lore when he struck out Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa and mocked him with a "pouty face" - it was the first game between the two teams since the 2017 World Series sign-stealing scandal.

Jonas Never captured the moment at what was then Floyd’s 99 Barbershop (now Sugared + Bronzed) in Silver Lake. Kelly himself stopped by to pose for pics with Never.
