The Best Los Angeles Nightlife: Nov. 11-17, 2024

Sabrina Carpenter is the big headliner the week of November 11, with the pop sensation performing at Crypto.com Arena on Friday, November 15, for a night that’s nearly sold out. The singer behind summertime bops “Espresso” and “Please Please Please” will follow up that show with two sold-out nights at Kia Forum.
Elsewhere this week, Blood Incantation, whose fusion of death metal, psyche rock and other genres has earned them a strong cult following, play The Regent on Tuesday, November 12. On Thursday, November 14, yacht rock fave Ned Doheny plays Lodge Room while Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin plays from his catalog of iconic horror movie scores at The Belasco. Over the weekend, Honey Dijon brings Housenation to DTLA, while the LA Phil presents Noon to Midnight, a 12-hour exploration of field recordings in and around Walt Disney Concert Hall. Vinyl Williams - Zebulon (Nov. 11)
With a new EP, C-Sides, lending a “celestial pop” spin to an eclectic mix of cover songs, from Thundercat’s “Innerstellar Love” to The Supremes hit “Keep Me Hangin’ On,” and a recently completed tour opening for Quickly Quickly, Vinyl Williams headlines Zebulon on Monday, November 11. Blood Incantation - The Regent (Nov. 12)
On their recently released album, Absolute Elsewhere, Colorado’s Blood Incantation fuse multiple genres— death metal, prog rock, psyche rock and dub amongst them— to create a two-song epic. Hear the album live on the Absolute Elsetour, which hits Downtown LA’s Regent Theatre on Tuesday, November 12. Midwife, who turns Alice Deejay’s hit “Better Off Alone” into a spooky piece of ambient pop on new album No Depression In Heaven, will open. Tickets at Ticketmaster.

Cruel Diagonals - 2220 Arts + Archives (Nov. 12)
LA-based multimedia artist Megan Mitchell, aka Cruel Diagonals, has earned critical acclaim for her boundary-pushing work, which, on last year’s album, Fractured Whole, makes exquisite use of her mezzo-soprano voice. At 2220 Arts + Archives on November 12, she’ll share the stage with Paradot, the duo whose music recalls the legacy of 1980s and '90s electronic experimentalists, and Ears to the Ground, whose work in trans-media incorporates field recordings. Julie - The Fonda (Nov. 12)
After an EP and a couple of singles, LA-based shoegaze outfit Julie released their debut full-length, My Anti-Aircraft Friend, in September to critical acclaim. Tuesday, November 12, is the first of two nights they’ll play at The Fonda in Hollywood. The buzz is strong here and Wednesday’s show is already sold out, so catch Julie while you can. Caribou - Shrine Expo Hall (Nov. 13)
On the recently released Honey, Caribou drops listeners onto the dance floor with opening banger, “Broke My Heart,” and keeps the energy going through an album full of shimmering, clubby tracks. The Canadian producer heads to Shrine Expo Hall on Wednesday, November 13 with support from Yunè Pinku. Tickets at AXS.

Washed Out - The Bellwether (Nov. 13)
Best known for “Feel It All Around,” his 2009 single that went on to become the theme for sketch comedy hit Portlandia, and helping kickstart the chillwave trend of the 2010s, Washed Out released his fifth album, Notes From a Quiet Life, last summer. The Georgia-based producer plays The Bellwether on Wednesday, November 13. LA-based composer Casey MQ opens. Tickets at Ticketmaster.

Ned Doheny - Lodge Room (Nov. 14)
It’s not all that often that Ned Doheny, the singer-songwriter whose 1976 album Hard Candy is a favorite of DJs and record collectors, plays a hometown show with a full band. He’ll be doing just that on Thursday, November 14 at Lodge Room in Highland Park. Paul Cherry opens the show and DJs Elvin Estela and Dustin De Leon will be dropping heaters through the night.

Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin - The Belasco (Nov. 14)
As part of Goblin, Claudio Simonetti made some of the most memorable film music of the 1970s, including the scores for Profondo Rosso (Deep Red) and Suspiria. His current band, Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin, brings the fan favorites to the station on The Ultimate Anthology tour, which stops at Downtown LA’s Belasco Theatre on Thursday, November 14. The March Violets - The Echo (Nov. 14)
Seminal goth band The March Violets released their latest album, Crocodile Promises, over the summer and bring their current U.S. tour to a close on Thursday, November 14, at The Echo with support from Die So Fluid. Tickets at Live Nation.

Sabrina Carpenter - Crypto.com Arena (Nov. 15)
Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet tour hits Los Angeles on the weekend of November 15. The pop sensation heads to Crypto.com Arena on Friday night and tickets are going fast at AXS. On Saturday and Sunday, she’ll play sold out shows at Kia Forum in Inglewood.

Nardwuar’s Video Vault - The Fonda (Nov. 15)
Canadian journalist Nardwuar the Human Serviette is beloved for his entertaining and thoroughly in-depth interviews with the likes of everyone from Nirvana to Tyler the Creator. On Friday, November 15, Nardwuar will be at The Fonda Theatre in Hollywood for a live Q&A and screening of video interviews from his vast archives. Señor Amor, co-host of KXLU’s long-running “Molotov Cocktail Hour,” will DJ. Tickets at AXS, with VIP packages that include a meet-and-greet with Nardwuar.

12 Rods - The Paramount (Nov. 15)
Last year, Ryan Olcott of Minneapolis indie rock outfit 12 Rods released If We Stayed Alive, the band’s first new album in over 20 years. On Friday, November 15, 12 Rods, of which Olcott is the sole constant member, heads to The Paramount in Boyle Heights for an all-ages show. Tickets at Dice.

Honey Dijon Presents Housenation Factory 93 (Nov. 16)
Honey Dijon heads back to LA on Saturday, November 16, when she brings her Housenation event to Factory 93 in Downtown LA. The beloved DJ/producer and Beyoncé collaborator will be joined by Heidi Lawden, Juliet Mendoza and Masha Mar. Get your tickets at Dice while they’re still available!

The dB’s - Zebulon (Nov. 16)
Back in the early ‘80s, The dB’s earned accolades and a cult following for their tight power pop. The band is experiencing a resurgence following the remaster and reissue of their 1981 debut, Stands in for Decibels, and have hit the road for a U.S. tour. The dB’s are playing two nights at Zebulon - Sunday’s show is already sold out, so grab your tickets for Saturday night at Dice before it’s too late.

Noon to Midnight: Field Recordings - Walt Disney Concert Hall (Nov. 16)
Noon to Midnight is a 12-hour music marathon presented by the LA Phil. The 2024 event, curated by Pulitzer Prize-winner Ellen Reid, coincides with the PST ART: Art & Science Collide initiative by focusing on field recordings. The day-to-night exhibition includes a listening room organized by In Sheep’s Clothing, installations, films and performances by a wide cross-section of musicians and artists. The main event for Noon to Midnight is a performance of Doug Aitken’s Lightscape by the Los Angeles Master Chorale and LA Phil New Music Group. The concert is a separate ticket from your Noon to Midnight pass.

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - The Belasco (Nov. 16)
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Shake the Sheets, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists are playing the 2004 album in full on their current tour. Catch them at The Belasco on Saturday, November 16, where they’ll be joined by local indie rocker Diners.

The Red Pears - Shrine Expo Hall (Nov. 16)
El Monte-based The Red Pears have had a big year. They dropped a new album, Better Late Than Never, in April; played Coachella, opened for Chicano Batman at the Kia Forum and toured the U.S. Catch the band at Shrine Expo Hall on Saturday, November 16 with support from late night drive home, Archer Oh, Mexican Slum Rats, SadGirl and Floats. Early Moods - The Echo (Nov. 17)
Local doom metal outfit Early Moods, whose recent album, A Sinners Past, came out earlier this year, headlines The Echo on Sunday, November 17. Joining them are Castle Rat, the fantasy-themed New York band who fuse the imagery of vintage Heavy Metal magazines with heavy metal sounds. Magenta and DJ Scott Carlson round out the bill.
